I'm doing DIY electrical work for the first time in my life. I've done some reading and researching, and I believe I'm ready.I'm trying to rewire my mains-connected fluorescent light into LED. Before I do so, I need to check if my procedure to test if I've correctly killed the switch so I don't get myself killed. This is what I have done to check:With lights on, used a non-contact tester to check wiring inside light fitting, tester beeps.Switched breaker off, used tester, no beeping.Switching lights on and off, no lights (lights are operated by 2-way switches, if that matters)Turn breaker on, tester beeps, so tester working fine (mind me, it's a 5 bucks china-made cheap tester)Can I be absolutely certain the mains live and neutral coming into the light fitting is absolutely safe to work with? Anything I missed out? Any advice? If the electricity doesn't kill me, the fall will, since it's a ceiling light fitting lol. That's why I'm being so paranoid. via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2pFzQVo
