Im a marketing professional / graphic artist with 5+ years of job experience and i have been poking new opportunities here and there.
Came across this hilarious logic from a company im not going to name.
"we have received your application and gone through your portfolio. Thank you for your interest to join our team.
To evaluate your suitability for the position you applied for please carry out the following assignment attached to this email as Art_test_2.pdf.
The deadline is 12th Apr."
The art test was to design 2 hoodies and a tournament graph for them.
I replied that there is more than enough evidence in my portfolio for you to see that i am capable of designing those things.
They replied:
You failed the second phase of our company's recruitment process (the assignment) and as a result are not qualified for the third stage (the interview). Unfortunately, you are not a person we are looking for to fill this position in our team.
To explain it a bit more, the art test you received was not a test of skills but a test of applicant's character. A failure to deliver the asked assignment and a failure to deliver it before deadline are both automatic fails.
My reply:
The thing is i dont work for you, you are not paying me to do it. If that would be the case of course i would do it easily before the deadline. You cant assume that people just work for you for free.
Im sitting here, laughing my ass off to any company that does this. "testing character for making you work gor free"
