I went to my credit union to pull out $40 because I left my debit card at home by accident. When I spoke with the teller, he said my accounts were frozen because someone who I opened and closed a Christmas savings account with for 3 months in 2009 was filling for bankruptcy. Person's name somehow magically appeared on my savings and checking account.

I told the teller that the Christmas account was closed almost a decade ago and I haven't had any contact with said person since. They made a few calls as I sat there ready to vomit as my life savings seemed to be going to a ghost of my past. Eventually they said there was no paper work of me ever adding person to my savings and checking accounts and they un-froze everything.

I had them issue me a cashiers check for the savings account balance and now I need to do something with that (10k).

My question is, what's the smartest place to put my savings and can they change their mind and lock the checking account I still have with them? ( my mortgage payment is pending so I left it open for now). Can Person catch wind of the mistake and try to take my money? Do I need to take any further action?
