My husband is looking to buy a used vehicle. He is looking at getting a "sporty sedan" like 2014-15 Infiniti G37XS or Buick Regal GS. I personally would like him to get an SUV as we are planning on having kids soon and I also really want a vehicle that can tow. I currently drive a 2013 Chevy Cruze LTZ with around 95000 miles. I have about $7500 and 2 years left on my auto loan. According to Edmunds, it's only worth around $4000 to trade in. As I'm reading up on how to negotiate the best price for a used vehicle it got me wondering if we went into a dealer and he got his sedan and I traded my Cruze in for a small SUV whether we could negotiate a really super deal for both. Do you think this is possible? My second question is whether this would be a bad or good financial decision. I think it would depend on how good of a deal we could get but I guess I'd like to know, what would that deal have to look like in order for it to be a good financial decision? Any other things to consider regarding this would be appreciated as well. Thanks in advance!
