I'm 17 so this is the first time I've ever had to deal with taxes and I'm not 100% sure how they work. Recently my boss sent me a 1099 instead of a W-2 even though I am positive I'm an employee and not a contractual worker (I say this because I get payed $10/hr, I'm always given specific things to do, and I have a regular schedule). This means that instead of paying $0 (which I expected to pay bc I made less than $6000) I will be paying $350 plus $75 to have an accountant do it in paper - apparently you can't file online if you've been given a 1099.
I believe my boss was wrong in giving me a 1099 so I am planning on having the accountant file a Form SS-8 and Form 8919. Is this the right course of action? My mom said that I have to file something by the 18th so I'm working with a tight timeline here and want to get this done with asap. Any advice would be appreciated, thank you so much!
