Hello! I could really use some help, considering I'm a semi irresponsible 21 year old with no idea of how taxes work. For the past 5 years my mom has told me if you make less than 10,000 you don't have to file for taxes and there would be no penalty. I blindly believed this. My mom claimed me on her taxes each of these years as i was living in her home.
Last year i definitely "made enough to file" if that is an actual thing. So tomorrow I'm going in to see if I get returns but I'm afraid I might owe for not filing for years and I'm tripping out a little. Can someone please tell me what I'm walking in to? If I owe, I'll be making a new post soon on how to budget.
