Last fall I had some unexpected time off while switching jobs, and got started on making our deck more attractive and functional at the same timeIn Progress: http://ift.tt/2oNEJyQ goal this spring has been to use the upper structure to add some functional shade by attaching a retractable shade canopy to the upper 2x12's spanning the length of the deck. The span is ~7' x ~14', so assuming I run a single 7'x14' shade along some type of track attached to the upper beams, I think i would have a some pretty excellent shade.Does anyone have any good resources for this type of project? Maybe I'm using the wrong search terms or something, but when it comes to DIY shade projects I'm finding a ton of "ideas" but no actual support for how to do what I want or where to get quality components.I am looking for an experience similar to shadetree or infinityshade retractable canopies, but without the $2,000 + price tag. Close Up Concept Shot here: http://ift.tt/2oZaCAu, here is what I have so far:Overhead Curtain Track: ~$250 ( http://ift.tt/2qn7eAz ) Overhead Shade Canopy: ~$60 ( http://ift.tt/2plgIxW ) Cross Span Supports : ????I thought of using electrical conduit for the cross supports. I can't help but think there is a better product to be used. If i use electrical conduit I will need to hand stitch a pouch for every conduit, and every one will need to be perfectly straight, which seems like a daunting challenge. I feel like this is a problem someone else has had to solve and must be trying to sell.So any suggestions for where to find some good cross supports?TL;DR: I need help finding a good shade canopy part retailer online. via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2qtRf2O
