Several years ago my aunt had a stroke and about a year later her husband passed away suddenly. She was left partially disabled from the stroke and was unable to work and had been supported by her husband. She sold off most of her valuable things to make ends meet but held onto her wedding ring. Recently it became a necessity that she sell it so she put it on eBay. Someone sent her a fake email pretending to be a buyer from eBay then another fake email pretending to be PayPal saying he had paid for the ring and the money would be released once she shipped it. So she shipped the ring to a Miami address but obviously never got any money. They had agreed on the price of 17,500$. I wish I knew before hand she was going to sell it so I could have helped her. Chances of retrieving the ring are probably small at this point but can she perhaps file a civil suit? Any suggestions to help her would be deeply appreciated. This financially devastated her so literally ANY suggestions on how she moves forward would be helpful. Thanks guys!
