I have about 10 years experience and am currently a senior engineer. Pay is good, stress level and hours aren't bad and I have no direct reports. I have been in the role for 3 years- it has its challenges but overall I am comfortable with the flexibility in day to day activities.
Potential new job would likely be a nice salary bump, has about 6 direct reports and significant responsibility increase. I am concerned about the stress level in the new role. If I switch over to management path it may be difficult to go back to technical path.
Anyone face a similar career direction change? What are your thoughts?
