First off, I'm sometimes off the deep end in frugality.
Anyway, we bought a 80% efficient gas furnace 1.5 years ago. 80% because in our climate we don't use the furnace too much, 6 months out of the year (and that's not 24/7, of course) and more efficient furnaces cost a lot more.
I got a call from someone at the company that installed the furnace, checking up to see about the annual inspection/whatnot.
Is it really necessary to have a furnace checked every year, esp. if it's new?
I guess I'm trying to save $100+ a year. It's not about the savings, but not wanting to do something that's not really necessary. I'd rather take that $100 and get more carbon monoxide sensors.
