Disclaimer - I don't hike in these very much. They're mostly a casual street use shoe. However, here is the surprising thing. I've been wearing these with light use since 1988. That's 29 years.
The soles are not worn flat. Which I don't understand because I own sneakers with similarly black soles that have gone through into the foam layer within a few months.

The foam is still pliable and the suede and nylon construction is holding up.
