I heard through the grapevine Tuesday is tax FAQ day.
In the beginning of 2016 I was living in IL. I started doing some online work reviewing websites. I made ~500$ before getting hired at a gas station. I quit doing the online stuff and made about ~2k at the gas station before moving to NJ to live with my boyfriend and I got a new part time job making about ~3k.
I never changed my address so All my documents are with my parents in IL. My mom told me that turbotax is charging 200$ to file a schedule C. So I decided to try this out myself, but It's my first time and I feel overwhelmed.
As far as I understand the only part of the Schedule C I can fill out is gross income. I didn't advertise or spend any money when doing website reviews.
My current questions are:
-
When I do my state taxes for IL, I'm uncertain if I should combine my income from the gas station and website reviews.
-
I assume my NJ state tax return will only require my gross income from my NJ job.
-
Last, I'm not sure which 1040 to file anymore.
