Some tips
-
Antiperspirant is usually more effective if you apply it at bedtime instead of in the morning. Consumer Reports has an article on their website which confirms this.
-
Antiperspirant contains aluminum compounds; these help you to sweat less.
-
Underarm hair also helps to wick moisture away from your armpits. This helps to reduce bacterial growth, which in turn reduces odor.
My main source for all of the above is Wikipedia's "Deodorant" article.
Generic antiperspirants
I know that, in Canada, Shoppers Drug Mart used to sell store-brand (Life brand) deodorant long ago. Maybe 15 or 20 years ago. I don't know whether or not they ever sold store-brand antiperspirant.
I don't know about the historical US situation.
In modern times, I've never seen any generic deodorants or antiperspirants. I've seen low-end brands in dollar stores: maybe not Delon, but similar to Delon. And I've seen high-end brands in dollar stores: e.g. Axe and similar. I've also seen various brand-name antiperspirants at Costco.
But, nowadays, I've never seen any private-label deodorants or antiperspirants: e.g. "Equate" or "CVS Health" or "Up & Up".
My questions about generics
A) Have you ever seen any store-brand deodorant or antiperspirant for sale, in any country?
B) If so, was it nowadays? If not, how many decades ago was it?
C) Why might it be that they're unavailable in the US nowadays?
D) If you saw some generic antiperspirant for sale, and if it was 50 cents cheaper than your favorite name brand, would you buy a stick to try it out?
