I received a form 1099 this past Tuesday evening from my former employer (general contractor). When i saw the figure printed on the document $26,000 (exactly that), i thought to myself "there's no f*ing way and that's too much of a coincidence to be an even clean number".
Fast forward and it's Thursday evening. I've just finished adding up the "Deposits and Other Additions" from each monthly checking account statement from last year. I subtracted store refunds to my card and transfers from my savings account. According to my banking paperwork, i earned a few dollars less than $15,100 ($15,091.91 to be exact).
Needless to say i'm livid! I'm already planning to go through my banking paperwork from 2015 because now i'm suspicious about that year too. I'm already on a payment plan with the IRS for that tax year!
What do i do? My old boss is an ignorant bastard whom i'm pretty sure is just gonna blame/point me to "his guy" that did his taxes for him.
To add i'm in Florida so i don't have to worry about State income tax, but i am the sole owner of an LLC that's not currently earning a profit.
sorry i missed the Tuesday tax thing....
