Hey, All!

I'm looking for some advice regarding the purchase of a BIFL messenger bag that is work appropriate. My office is going to an "open space" design, which means you need to carry your life with at all times. I do have backpacks, but I prefer a messenger-style bag for easy access to my stuff. I'm also looking for something that is work appropriate... we are business/business casual and I don't bike to work, so I'm looking for something that is a bit more refined in style for the workplace.

Basic requirements:

  • Professional (or semi-professional) look
  • Manageable weight (see below)
  • Need to accommodate a laptop (up to Thinkpad 15"), tablet, lunch, chargers, cables, notebooks, etc. (probably somewhere in the range of 18-20 liter capacity)
  • Easy to get in and out of -- not a fan of fighting with complicated buckles and straps all day
  • Well-designed pocket organization for quick access to things

I have had Saddleback bags in the past, and that 6-pound-plus weight is just a killer. I'm not against leather, but I have to be concious of the weight.

I also have a Timbuk2 Command Messenger, but I find that there are so many little pockets stuffed in every corner that my stuff tends to get lost.

Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks, all!
