I'm getting ready to paint the concrete block walls of our garage gym in FL. The garage is not fully climate controlled, but we will have a window AC unit to turn on during the summer months when we are working out. The walls are currently bare concrete that we just finished cleaning yesterday and will be patching/filling in holes today. The guy at the paint counter in Lowes said a bonding primer and a basic exterior paint would be all we need, but I've got some safety concerns about using an exterior paint in an "indoor" area where we will be spending lots of time and breathing heavily. I've read some things about "mildewcides" that can leach out of exterior paints and cause some odors and respiratory/safety issues. Obviously that's not what we want in a place where we are exercising, but I can't really find any definitive info on the subject. So my first question is: is it safe to use exterior paint in an area where we will be doing "indoor" activities for hours at a time?Second question: Do I need to seal the walls before priming? The guy at Lowes said nothing about this, but online articles seem to suggest that it's necessary. via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2miyspo
