Hey everyone,I did some digging in the archives and wasn't able to find a direct answer, so I'm hoping someone can confirm what I think I already know about our situation. Here's the deal...We have a standard light switch that has a black, white, and ground coming out of the wall. It powers a light fixture that has separate pulls for the fan and light. We bought a single pole light and fan dimmer switch very similar, if not identical, to this one.As you can see, the dimmer switch has yellow, red, black and green, whereas our current switch only has black and white. I looked at an identical dimmer switch that my father-in-law (electrician) successfully wired in our master bedroom and it has a red wire coming out of the wall. I'm assuming that since the bedroom in question only has black and white, we won't be able to install the switch we bought unless we run another wire into the room.Main questions are:Have I come to the right conclusion about us being screwed? Are there any alternative solutions? Different switch types? New fixtures with hand-held remotes? We're basically looking for the ability to turn the fan and light on independently without having to climb all over the bed to do it.Thanks in advance for any help you can provide! via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2nkgtAv
