Hey everybody,

I'm slowly, but surely learning everything I can about investing now that I have the money to do so for the first time in my life.

A few questions,

I have a Roth IRA through Scottrade with 11k in it, transfer from my last employer and my 2016 contribution, but it's not invested in anything. I read that the best way to invest this money is to put it into an Index Fund. My search on here is pulling that VFIAX or VFINX are the ones to go with. Is this accurate to invest 100% of it into an Index Fund? Why not a big tech company like Google?

Lastly, I'm 10 months into being self-employed, are there any other retirement accounts I should be investing in?

My only debt is my car with about 6k left on it, I'm going to pay this off as soon as I make my 2017 Roth IRA contribution leaving me with no debt and even more money able to be invested.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and any guidance is appreciated!
