I have a large box that is covered on its exterior in a padded faux leather material. On the inside, I have applied 2" thick sound dampening material (roxul rockboard. Kinda like dense fiberglass insulation). The walls of the box are 1/4" thick plywood, and the box houses a pneumatic pump which has two 1.75" diameter hoses that come out the front. I want to pass the hoses through the wall of the box so that I can close the lid during operation, so I need a way to, shall we say, finish the hole.If the walls w/ all materials weren't about 3" thick, I would say I need a grommet (like this), but I'm looking at McMaster-Carr and grommets don't accommodate 3" material thickness, or even come close.I have seen a piece in a very small size that would be perfect, but I don't know what the heck it's called or whether you can get big ones. It was essentially like a T nut with a long sleeve that had interior threads. It has a companion piece of the same design, but with exterior threading on the sleeve, so you could slide them into material from each side and screw them together to clamp them together.whewh Kinda hard to describe.Any ideas? via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2msQMQP
