So I have been getting into reading about saving/spending and I recently picked up a copy of "The Millionaire Next Door". I cannot stress how much this book has changed my perspective about my own spending. The book talked about millionaires not actually being the ones buying the most expensive stuff (cars, clothes, etc.) and that people who seem the richest are actually putting up a facade. The thing that stood out to me the most was the general idea of seeing the fit runner out jogging each day and thinking "Why are they out jogging, they are already in shape?" I realized that the same thing is true with saving/ spending. That was a WOW moment for me.

I always thought that I wanted to buy a house in an upper middle class neighborhood, but I REALLY do not want to play the Keeping up with the Joneses lifestyle. I have traveled a bunch and seen how other parts of the world live, and I am very against the mass consumerism lifestyle in America. I truly feel like I have found "the secret" that so many people know, but never implement. What are some books that inspired you to check your spending and what was the life changing advice for you?
