Is social media a great business is the fundamental question we should all be asking ourselves when investing in a FB, Twitter, Snapchat, etc. There are so many established great businesses already out there, what makes social media a winner long term as a great business? Obviously their moats are their users and FB seems to clearly be winning that battle. What is the margin of safety when investing in an IPO? None that I can find. Ultimately, I find it hard to justify any social media as a great business.
