The cars I've owned in the past have been beaters mostly, the type you buy for $1k that turn out to be more hassle than they're worth. I'm a little more adult now, so I know getting a loan and buying something decent is a better idea. I was thinking of a loan in the neighborhood of $5k for a decent used minivan. I don't have any real experience with vehicle ownership, so I thought I would check with you all to get some tips.
