I went on maternity leave in October of 2015. I returned back to work at the end of 2015. In March of 2016, our company was sold to another parent company.

While I was on leave, my old parent company "trued up" or "made whole" my leave payments. The way I understand it, is that they kept paying me my salary the entire FMLA 12 weeks I was out, after all STD payments were made. I was not informed this would happen and if I had been given the option, I would have opted out since I budgeted to be out of work for 12 weeks.

So when I returned back to work at the end of December, 2015, they DEDUCTED the leave payments they had given me out of my paychecks. So my paychecks were WAY less than normal. And as someone who has a strict budget, this was an unwelcome surprise. THe deductions were made until it was all "paid back", which took about 2 months (paychecks were cut twice a month).

My former parent company agreed to give all employees 100% of their target bonus for January and February, since we were bought by another company in March.

Well, I have received only half of my bonus, which was calculated by them as follows:

Regular pay - "leave catch up" = eligible earnings. (My bonus was based off eligible earnings)

Target bonus amounts do not include ANY std or leave PAYMENTS. But, I was working full time for the entirety of 2016. I did not receive any STD payments...they took money from my paycheck to pay back my "leave".

This seems unfair to me. I feel that my bonus should be based off my regular pay, since I was was actively at work, full time, for 2016.

HR is of no help since we have a new parent company.

I am on mobile so I apologize for any formatting and I hope I've made sense of the situation. I'd love opinions and feedback on what to do next? This discrepancy in my bonus would make a good dent in my medical bills, so I don't just want to bend over and take no for an answer.

Thanks in advance for reading.
