My father always did my taxes, in 2013 he got put into hospice care and suddenly asking him to file all the forms for me wasn't something he could do anymore so I didn't ask him.
About the same time I went through some serious medical problems and at some point just quit caring about it.
The government had taken my tax returns every year anyways because I had defaulted on student loans and so I decided that if I wasn't going to get a tax return there was no fucking point anyways.
Fast forward a few years and I've paid off the dumbass student loan, but I've still never filed the tax returns for the intervening years.
I work in tech and make pretty good money, and figure I'm overpaying anyways since I take zero deductions but I would like to get this shit straightened up and actually file my taxes like a good boy.
The years in question I lived in a state that didn't have a state income tax, so I'm not to worried about that, but last year I moved back to a state that does and so now I really need to get this taken care of.
Is this something that I can do myself, or if not can anyone recommend a service that won't completely bend me over for it?
Last year I was unemployed from the beginning of the year until November, and I did have considerable moving expenses as I moved from the coast to the Midwest.
Any advice would be appreciated.
