Saw this ad today and the website mentioned in it is registered to Herbalife and was created January 2013, less than one month after Ackman announced his short. I bet most people could have guessed that anyway, because who else would have such a financial interest in attacking Ackman's credibility?
I'm not posting any opinions about either Ackman or Herbalife, because I just want to point out, as neutrally as possible, that financiers will attempt to influence your thinking ($SNAP, anyone?). Ackman is not innocent either, of course, because just simply announcing a billion dollar short is also likely to influence the market in his favor.
It's just battle of publicity to make us all think one way or another for the benefit of financiers engaged in a zero-sum game.
Always think critically, do your homework, and understand the fundamentals. Take all other information with a grain of salt.
