One of my most favorite stock and commodities analyst, W.D. Gann, once shared a view on newcomers to the market and how easily they lose their capital. He made the comparison that doctors go to school for 5, 10+ years before they actually do surgery. Lawyers will go to school for also a long period a time...basically making the point that for much of the world it is accepted that one must acquire a vast knowledge base before becoming proficient at that task/skill...yet for whatever reason these same people think that they will just come into the market and make a success!
