All through school I was never taught anything about income tax, or how to do your annual taxes. Now I'm out of high school, and feel like I'm missing vital information on living as an adult. I understand I can research this myself, but in the literally thousands of hours I spent at school, they couldn't have taken an afternoon to explain how to do your taxes, or why it's important not to ignore doing it?
Most of my friends are years behind in their taxes and have no idea of the impact it will have on them later on in life. I feel really let down by the education system. I'm realizing now that personal finance is one of the most important things, if you want to live a happy, well adjusted life.
Can anyone explain to me why the education system (I live in canada) would choose not to educate us at all about money?
