Specifically, this past month my boyfriend and I have tried as hard as possible to keep our propane bill LOW. Here are our recent oil bills in the winter of 2016:
- Nov: $44: 17 gallons @ 2.45 (had this price for a YEAR+ prior)
- Dec: $128: 50 gal @ 2.55
- Dec: $100: 58 gal @2.55
- Jan: $213: 78 gal @ 2.70
Now, the November price is very cheap because we hardly used our propane all summer/fall, and only needed a top-off.
We froze our ASSES off, this past month, hoping to have a lower (than previous months!) propane bill.
Heated blankets, clothing layers, electric heater, heat as low as possible without freezing pipes, sweatshirts upon sweatshirts, sealed under the front doorway, you name it!
What on earth can we do to not DOUBLE our heating bill next cycle like we apparently (somehow) did this month??
We rent a 1000sq ft apartment, with 10' high ceilings. I understand heat rises, and we can lose it that way - but we haven't had our heat on above 60 degrees, strictly so the pipes don't freeze - not for comfort!
