I've been trying to weight the benefits of paying the natural gas company to install a line to my house. I was given a rough estimate of $2500 to $3000 unless I can convince nearby neighbors to switch which could defer that cost. Currently I'm on propane heat and use about 300 gallons a year, costing roughly $650 with propane at $2.19 a gallon. Looking at the price of natural gas currently being $0.90 / therm I'd be saving roughly $350 - $400 per season by switching. It would take some time to pay for itself but having the natural gas may also help sell the house down the road as well. Was wondering if this would be a worthwhile endeavor or should I just suck it up and pay the higher cost of propane?
