Hi all. I am looking for a good pair of work boots that will hold up well for work. Boots I've tried in that past 5 years - Keens, had two pairs, pretty comfortable but they seemed to fall apart after a year. Danners, I currently have a pair of the Made in the USA safety toe 8" Quarrys with Gore Tex. I like how they look and was really looking forward to these lasting for years, as everyone that has recommended them to me raved about them lasting forever. I've owned them for 1.5 years and the soles are worn down to bald is some spots. The boots leak water and the liner/goretex at the heel has rubbed through down to the heal plastic and leather. I treated the Quarrys with Obenauf's LP, two coats 24hrs apart when they were new, cleaned and recoated once every 6-8months. I am a heavy duty mechanic, so my boots are exposed to many oils, fluids, and solvents, along with deicing salt in the winter (I work on plows too). My shift is 8 hours long. I prefer lace up boots that look more like a traditional boot, like the Quarrys, but am open to other options. I need a boot that is waterproof too due to going on service calls that require to go out to the field regardless of weather. Thank you in advance!
