I have a recirculating pump for my water heater. The pump is activated by a very old timer ... very, very primitive. I would love to replace this stupid time with something more modern - maybe even something that ties into my Smartthings Hub. Since the pump appears to be driven by 110V, I was thinking of just replacing the timer with an electrical outlet, plugging in one of those z-wave outlet controlers and then connecting a normal AC connector to the pump. Obviously, I don't want to destroy the pump, so I would love some feedback or alternative suggestions if there is a better way to achieve this. Here are some photos of my pump and timer: http://ift.tt/2kIkdfm via /r/DIY http://ift.tt/2l96r67
