Usually lurk but wanted to thank this sub for the inspiration to just face finances and not put it off. FINALLY I am not carrying a credit card balance month to month. I have had a card for twenty years. I looked at all my numbers from 2016 (using YNAB) and realised I spent 500 dollars on cc interest last year. That was from carrying around $2000 on my card month to month and always making large payments, but not being careful enough. It's easy to not really register how much interest you are paying when it is just rolled onto your total owed.. I'll bet I have spent thousands and thousands over the years, my god..

After wanting to barf for a little while at the thought of all that money down the drain I became determined not to let it happen anymore. I'm three months in to paying in full every month which feels like a bloody miracle after 20 years. I even had 200 extra this month to put in savings. Small victories.
