Wife has stage 4 cancer, and I need objective insight on financial damage control. Specialized surgery will require travel out of state. Chemo will be done locally.

I am a 34 year old male making 58K per year. I have 2 kids - 9 and 7 years old. I have have a $180K mortgage on a house worth approx. 320K.

This is our second battle with Cancer. The first in 2013 wiped out the emergency fund, so I only have about $2300 in savings.

I have about 1 month of vacation time on the books. My job requires me to be onsite to perform it, so telework is out.

Parents and family are nearby and within commuting distance of my job. Plenty of volunteers to drive her to appointments. Parents are retired and will take the kids to and from school.

Lots of concerns,.. but wondering if I should be concerned about losing the house to medical bills. Catastrophic limit on medical is about 11K.
