We've seen and heard it before; people abusing return policies by returning things every season, or like the recent post, literally returning something they literally found in the ground outside. Because apparently being polite means it's okay now.
But it made me think, what IS an acceptable amount of time? Or an acceptable amount of wear?
I own a few pairs of Darn Tough socks. At what point would you draw the line and say, "I got my money's worth for the quality given, I think it's only fair that I buy a new pair now"? 3 years? 5? 10? I have walmart socks I got at 10 bucks for 5 pairs and have lasted me nearly 5 years until I threw them out.
Or like LLBean, maybe you shouldn't offer a lifetime guarantee if you're just banking on people not calling you out on it. Then make it a 20 year guarantee or something?
