Hi all, I'm stuck and you all provide great advice. Throwaway because this is a specific situation.
I went to get pre-approved to put an offer on a house. Pre-approver tells me I have 0 credit history. I call Citi, who I've had for years, and they say the social I am providing does not match the one on my account. I'm 99% sure I inputted the correct one, but even if I didn't - you'd think Citi would cross check that with the rest of my information, right?
For the next 2 weeks I call them almost daily, talk to someone new in different departments. I'm told the social is fixed (able to do it over the phone I guess). I'm told Feb 13th it will get reported to the credit bureaus, and that all my history will be there.
Yesterday I called to confirm the send date of the 13th and believed I was routed to the fraud department. The woman understood the situation, but told me that my credit history wouldn't be reported for 1-2 billing cycles and they had no way to manually send it. She also said that only that months history would be sent - not my full history. When I asked if there was a way for all of my history to be sent, she said she couldnt promise that is the case because she wasn't sure how it would be done.
Here's something else interesting - through Citi's online portal I get a FICO score from Equifax. Except Equifax doesnt have a score for me. Makes sense, as there was a different social tied to the account. That means I am seeing someone elses credit history via my account. That can't be okay can it?
The good news in all this is that I have a clean slate credit history - no stolen identity. The bad news is I purposely have been building credit with this card for this exact moment - a mortgage - and now I'm being told that I may not get all that history back (which, I imagine should be good - always paid bills on time, never utilized a high % of my limit).
What are my options? I could get a co-signer if I had to temporarily and refinance in ~1 year. But I would rather not have to go that route.
I highly appreciate any advice.
TLDR; Wrong social on CC account. Citi can't guarantee I'll get my full ~3 year credit history.
