Hello.. so we received our tax return as we were working on bankruptsy paperwork. My husband survived a heart attack nearly 4 years ago at the age of 26 due to a genetic issue he wasn't aware of and things went downhill financially for our family. We have two children, who were practically babies at the time.

We have recently relocated to my inlaws and will soon be renting a house from them. We are able to use some of our $8,000 tax return (approx $2,000) towards those expenses and are trying to make the most of the rest. We are not allowed to prepay utilities and whatnot to get ahead as I search for a job so we are trying to use the money as wisely as we can to take care of things we've needed to for a while.

So far on the list includes dental visits for my husband and I (I am 9 years over due for one), for our children (which should be covered by medicaid), fixing some major issues on our 2 vehicles, a local fitness membership for my husband and I to focus on our health especially with his condition, and a membership to a local children's museum as part of our children's homeschooling.

We are trying to finally take care of ourselves and the things we need to. I know it could be hard not knowing us, but are there any general things we may not be thinking of? Whatever we have left will likely be taken back from us so we are trying to be as wise as we can, plan out everything, and catch up on neglected things in our lives that we have not been able to keep up on due to financial reasons. The children are 4 and 5 and we have two dogs who are about 8 so we will be focusing on health for all of them, and education for the kids.
