Hello! I have a $1,000 debt currently owned by Stellar Recovery. This is a debt I have had since about 2012. I got into a 2 year Dish Network contract with a roommate in college, after we split ways the account stopped being paid, and went to collections. Both of our credit cards were on the account.
I recently got a call from Stellar Recovery. They have owned the debt for since September 2016. The debtor told me they were the 7th company to own this debt.
I asked for a validation of debt, and told me it would take 30 days to get to me.
I have not heard back from them, but the debt is still on my account. What are my next steps? Since I have talked to them does my statute of limitations clock reset? I have read so much advice on this site, but still feel so lost!
I am not sure if I made the right move by asking for a VOD, and I am not sure about what my next steps are. It is such a small amount, my only debt, yet it is greatly affecting my credit (obviously).
