I'm thinking of making a spreadsheet to keep track of online sales for the year, so that I can look back at it next year to gauge when an upcoming sale is. Most retailers typically set sales around the same time as the previous year, so it could be a good prediction/indicator of when to buy (e.g. waiting till MLK Day to buy something on sale at J. Crew b/c it'll be 50% off sale instead of 40% off the week before).

However, there are some downsides: there are only so many retailers that I can keep track of with the time I have, that are within my budget, and that I am interested in. So I'm not, for example, too keen on keeping track of Brooks Brothers or Norse Projects (too expensive), even though their sales get a relatively good amount of upvotes. And I'm probably not going to keep track of GAP or J. Crew Factory b/c they have the same perpetual sale all year long.

I'm thinking of starting in February. J. Crew, Banana Republic, Abercrombie & Fitch, American Eagle, and UNIQLO will be some of the ones I'll keep track of. Anyone interested and got any other suggestions for retailers? (I'm open to keeping track of more expensive retailers if the demand is there (i.e. many people want me to).)

Edit: A word.
