So I (30/M) currently pull in $1200 a month from disability though the VA, and will be able to get a living stipend with my GI bill once I start school. I'm not opposed to getting a job, but i don't want to have to work to the point where it jeopardizes the amount of time I have to focus on school. I don't care about climate, and safety, while important, is not a critical concern (former Marine who carries a ccw daily). What parts of the country should I be looking at for being able to rent a place in this price range?

Edit: I forgot to mention, I would prefer not to have roommates. I'm not opposed to it down the road, but I would prefer to choose a roommate from a pool of known people, which I would be able to do once I've attended school for a while.

Edit 2: I don't have any particular schools in mind, just anywhere that offers an undergraduate major in international relations or communications. I'm going to school to get the piece of paper, not to have the "college experience". I'm a grumpy old man haha.
