Dear reddits, I just graduated last year with a starting salary lower than $2k a month. I contribute 20% of it to government savings plan. With my parents gone, I am the only sole breadwinner of family with an elderly granny to support. I saved a portion of 60% of my remaining income into savings, largely because of the fear of uncertainties, a few hundreds into all the utilities bills. I kept to SGD$200 to my transport and lunch money. I decided to skip dinner every night, but eating dinner meals occasionally if I have extra in my pocket. But my past 10 months had been a major huge struggle. In order to live frugal I realized I'm sacrificing my happiness and physical needs and it's taking a toll on me. I am not sure what I had done wrong. Any advise how you have previously coped with your financials ?
