Our Verizon phone bill was about $320 a month for 4 lines, 18 GB data, 4 smartphone monthly payments, plus taxes etc.
We switched to Straight Talk and now pay half that. 3 lines we got the $45 plan and one line - who doesn't use data - got the $30 plan. We paid cash for our phones - 3 $30 phones and one $20 phone.
We decided that if we aren't willing to pay $700 up front for a phone, we don't need that phone.
Pretty decent victory, if I do say so myself!
