First of all, please excuse my bad English! I'm not a native speaker. I also know of /r/backpacking but we want to enjoy some luxury.
I plan on traveling across Europe with 3 of my best friends this summer. We are students, so of course we have to really watch how we spend our money and I thought you guys could really offer some valuable insight! I have read the wiki and found the sections on budgeting and frugal food very useful!
We plan to travel for a period of little over 1 month, beginning at the end of May. Each of us has a budget of 750€ + 300€ interrail pass. Our starting country is Finland and at the moment we are planning on buying the "Travel on 10 days within a period of 1 month" Interrail pass, which will cost us 300€ each.
Our approximate route is:
Finland ----Sweden----Denmark----Germany----Poland-----Czechia-----Austria-----Hungary-----Romania-----Croatia
Luckily for us each EU country must give the same roaming charges to other EU citizens from 15.6.
Obvious things we have thought of are:
- Sometimes taking a bus is better than wasting a traveling day
- Cook our own meals when possible
- Look up local prices and scams beforehand
- Stay with friends when possible (For us Sweden and Poland)
Can anyone who has done this offer any insight first-timers often overlook?
