I figured I would share my success story of saving 11,000 from April 2nd 2015- now. As a server and bartender it's hard to constantly have cash and not want to spend it. I had barely anything in my savings and had not saved a penny in 2 years. A coworker told me to save 20 dollars a shift, even the slowest shift.
So, 20 * 5 shifts a week =100 a week, 5200 a year. I did pick up shifts in there, and when I did have extra cash I would stash some away. Now, I can't imagine life without saving.
I did take money out a few months ago to buy a house and pay off some debt, but I'm back up to 11,000 and feeling very motivated to hit at least 16 before the end of the year!
All you servers out there, you can do it!
