Husband, two kids and I currently live in a very expensive city on the gulf coast, with a high cost of living and not many jobs outside of the service industry. Our dilemma is that the area we live in doesn't have a lot of jobs or jobs with rooms for growth. It's very expensive to live here, with the average 3 bedroom family home costing well over $350K. We're considering moving to Michigan because the cost of living is less expensive and we will be able to save more money. Another benefit is that we will have family nearby, something we don't have currently. Is it a wise decision to move for the lower cost of living in order to be able to save more and afford more? Or should we stick it out where we are currently and make it work? Has anyone else relocated due to cost of living, and was it worth the move? I'd be happy to provide more if needed. Thanks in advance for the advice.
