So I was using a corn based litter when I got my new kitten. Arm & Hammer Essentials Natural Clumping Cat Litter 18 lb. I liked how there wasn't clay/silica dust everywhere. It didn't stink ever, no dust when I scoop, clumps like a champ. Bonus is that corn is plentiful and cheap. Sooooooo... I didn't want to pay $16 for 18lbs again so I went and got chicken feed (Dumor Layer crumbles) as a frugal substitute. $11 for 50lbs? Win.
Here's my thing, it stinks. I hate the way it smells right out the bag. And it really doesn't dissipate even after a week. Which is when I dump it and put more in. I even mixed in baking soda and a little crystal litter. I live in a tiny apartment and I like it to smell fresh. Just ugh.
Is there a better one out there? Should I just suck it up and buy the Arm and Hammer? I have tried the pine pellets but I just don't like them.
