Hi, I thought if anyone would be able explain my unexpected fortune, then he or she would probably be found here.
I love Amazon Warehouse Deals. I don't mind the opened boxes and signs of the first buyer trying out the article as long as they function. So I'm surely a frequent customer at Warehouse Deals - as I am on Amazon too.
I noticed that repeatedly Amazon has charged me less than I thought I bought for. I compared order confirmation with bank statement to make sure I wasn't mistaken and the price I bought for is higher than what they charged me.
Examples:
In December I ordered an espresso machine from Amazon Warehouse Deals for €104. I was already super stoked to find a €400 machine at that price. It was described as in "good conditon" with some scratches. It actually was rather "fair conditon" as it needed a good clean and a coffee scoop was missing but nothing that would make me return the machine.
Yet when they charged my bank account, they only withdrew €84 Euro, coincidentally that's exactly our 19%VAT here.
I called their service center thinking they made a mistake in regards to the VAT and to see if I could get a replacement for the coffee scoop. Even the call center agent noted that the reduction was odd but she assumed it might be due to the scoop missing and the item having more signs of use than described. She couldn't say for sure though. Now €20 for a missing scoop is a great discount so I don't complain, take it and run.
Last week I ordered a Chromebook from Warehouse Deals discounted at €297 (they are still expensive over here). It was described as in good condition with minor scratches on the bottom. It is actually in as new condition, only the box was opened and I couldnt see any scratches. Not even the manual or cord was unwrapped. Yet they only charged me €250 this time, so again an unexpected 15% discount.
I'm wondering if that is a new stage of their "customer obsession"?
Or are they using a new algorithm where they assume that I probably won't mind a few more nicks and scratches if I get a discount?
What do you think? Did anyone else experience this?
