So this one required some back story, I'm only 19 and recently my Grandfather passed away (no tears shed we barley knew each other) and 3 days after he was buried two men came to my door and handed me a log-book if you will. And a few letters on yellow paper. These guys clearly weren't smart and were only meant to be threatening because of their height and size.
After a thorough read through I was to the understanding that my Grandfather had borrowed $340,000 in 1985 to start his own business. And after that business went downhill in 2006 he had no money apart from some money his wife made.
I'm only 19, living by myself in Dorms and have practically zero understanding of money, I work a part time job paying $10 an hour, and it would literally be impossible for me to pay off this debt. The debt collectors say that every week this debt is not payed off (or started to be paid off) they will add $6,493 to the total cost.
For legal and personal reasons my mother father and many of my other relatives cannot assist me in this, only my aunt who has nowhere near enough to pay it off.
Since this has been happening I've received emails on both my College email and my personal email. My College finance advisor has also spoke to me about the debt, and as far as she told me they cannot help me.
Please help, what do I do?
