If you are building a kitchen set and need to get some basic stuff i went to Ollies Discount Center and they had a really good selection of Stainless Steel Mixing bowls.. they had 2 different levels of bowls. The first were just generic bowls which I got a 3 quart to test and its a good thickness cost was $2.49 and then they had ones with a rubber outer base on the outside bottom half of the bowl that makes it heavier and easier to use and won't slide on your counter top .. they are about twice as much as the basic ones.
I was really happy I make pizza dough and I mix and kneed the dough in the bowl so it held up well with no problems.
Pretty inexpensive and you could go for the fancy ones if you wanted but I don't want to deal with that.
I will be getting a few other sizes .. even the largest ones were under $5
They have a lot of other stuff there too but its hit or miss because they buy out stock from companies.. but those basic bowls are always there
Also if you sign up for their card you get a 10% off discount .. and then you get random discounts 10-15% about 5 times a year which is good because I have one now and I will use it to pickup some of those bowls and other stuff I have been waiting to buy
