There are so many options for monthly subscriptions nowadays. I love subscriptions like Netflix and Hulu because those are things I use on a weekly basis and I am comfortable not paying for cable because of these.
However, you can now subscribe to sites for monthly orders of makeup, lingerie, workout clothes and I'm sure a million other things.
I got a couple of these leading up to my wedding so I could feel really good about myself. They always start the subscription with a great deal, which I plan on getting before I cancel the subscription. I just began cancelling them, and you have to spend 10+ minutes on the phone with each one while their customer service representative calls you a valued customer and explains the benefits of their product and their subscription.
I feel like I shouldn't have to explain my financial situation to someone because I can no longer afford their product. Is this a normal, accepted practice for our time? Should I just avoid things like this in the future? The deals were really good for quality products. I could find similarly priced things at a discount store, but I don't think the quality would not be as good.
Does anyone have any advice on other options I could take advantage of in the future?
