Our monthly health insurance premiums are increasing by almost as much as they paid out last year for us, so trying to save some cheese.
I've looked at a few of these sharing things, like Medi-share, seems like it works like insurance should, but is considerably cheaper. Like, $200ish a month instead of $500+
But are they legit? They say they comply with ACA, so no penalty.
But what if one of us gets cancer or something, and then we have to go back to standard insurance for some reason. Will they take us back without ridiculous premiums?
Any real drawbacks, other than not having things like physicals covered? I have vision and dental through work on the cheap, so that's not really an issue. I guess the biggest concern is small stuff, like a broken bone or whatever before hitting the "deductible."
Last year we spent over $4100 in premiums, and $283 in services, while they only covered $213. They thanked us for being healthy by increasing it by $181/month, so I'm a little pissed and want nothing to do with these jerks, lol.
